Narungga Notice Of Third Meeting On Treaty

NOTICE OF COMMUNITY MEETING TO ALL NARUNGGA PERSONS

Point Pearce Town-hall,
SATURDAY 3 FEBRUARY 2018 commencing at 10.30 am

Following on from the Community Meetings held on 6 January and 20 January 2018, a further meeting of the Narungga Community is planned to take place at Point Pearce Town-hall commencing at 10:30am on Saturday 3 February 2018.

The purpose of the meeting is for a final decision from the Narungga Community on whether it approves the proposed “Buthera Agreement” with the State of South Australia. The meeting is open to all Narungga persons.

As you would be aware if you attended the meeting on 6 January 2018, it is no longer proposed that this Agreement be a “Treaty” Agreement. A copy of the Buthera Agreement is to be circulated to all persons in attendance at the meeting on 20 February 2018 and further copies will be available at this meeting on 3 February 2018.

It is also proposed that the Agreement now be between Narungga Nation Aboriginal Corporation (“NNAC”) and the State of South Australia.

If Narungga people vote by majority in favour of the Agreement, Cabinet will consider the matter on 7 February 2018.

It is therefore very important that you attend and have your say on this Agreement.

This is not a native title meeting but SA Native Title Services can assist with fuel if you need it to come to the meeting. Please contact Jodie Martin on free-call 1800 010 360 or 08 8110 2800 to arrange this.

Please also feel free to request a copy of the Agreement be sent to you if you do not already have a copy.
