South Australian Native Title Services on behalf of De Rose Hill Ilpalka Aboriginal Corporation was successful in their application for funding to protect Aboriginal heritage sites on De Rose Hill Station, in the north of South Australia.

The Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) approved funding for the materials and construction of fences to protect 5 cultural sites that are currently being damaged by cattle.

It is the first property -based project supported by the Indigenous Land Corporation to go ahead on native title land occupied bynon-Aboriginal pastoralists.

South Australian Native Title Services welcome this achievement and consider the project will open up more opportunities for heritage protection on De Rose Hill Station, and encourage other native titlegroups to apply for ILC funding to assist them with property-based projects.

De Rose Hill was the first native title determination in South Australia.
