Governance Structure

SANTS was incorporated under the Corporations Act on 13 June 2008 and commenced operations on 1 July 2008 following recognition as the Native Title Service Provider by the Commonwealth Minister for Aboriginal Affairs.

SANTS is governed by a Board of Directors which is accountable for the overall performance of SANTS. The Board's role is to guide, govern and provide a professional approach to the development of the SANTS. The Board currently consists of the following seven Directors.

Lucy Evans - Chairperson

Lucy is a leader in the South Australian Aboriginal community and works tirelessly to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Lucy is a Board Member of the Aboriginal Health Council of South Australia and a member of Health SA – Aboriginal Health Forum.

Her other involvements include work as a promoter of the Aboriginal Community Centre at Terowie, a Victims Support worker and membership of the Aboriginal Carers Association.

As the Chair of South Australian Native Title Services (SANTS), Lucy assists SANTS in providing leadership and assistance to Aboriginal people to solve complex legal and social issues and build the socio-economic and wealth capacity of the Aboriginal community.

Allan Hunter - Deputy Chairperson

Allan was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of South Australia in 1971 and practised in private practice in South Australia until 1998

He then joined United Medical Protection Australia’s then largest Medical Indemnity Insurer and worked in a number of management roles, ultimately Deputy CEO and Acting CEO.

Allan returned to South Australia in 2007 and is a self-employed Consultant principally to solicitors, medical indemnity insurers and health-related organisations.

Allan is Chairman of the Board of Management, South Australian Postgraduate Medical Education Association Inc (SAPMEA) and Deputy Chair of the SA Native Title Services Board, Chair of the Law Claims committee (SA),chair of the Adelaide University Cricket Club and a member of the Law Society of SA and a member of the institute of Company Directors

Jaqui Nelson- Secretary

Jacqui has worked for the Australian Public Service in Sydney and Adelaide and in private enterprise, in executive management roles, mainly, in health organisations.

Her background is in Human Resources and Corporate Services management and she has a Graduate Diploma in Business. She is currently working as a Deputy Registrar in a Commonwealth a

Paul Case - Treasurer

Paul is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years commercial experience and is a Registered Company Auditor. Since joining MLCS Corporate in 1995 as Director of the company Paul’s expertise has developed with a major focus on business planning, strategic planning and development strategies to create wealth for his clients.

His industry experience covers the retail, tourism and mining sectors and in particular he has developed a niche offering to Native Title Claimants in exploring commercial opportunities associated with agreements.

Andrea Nicolls

Ian Proctor

Ian has worked for both the Commonwealth and South Australian Governments in Canberra and in Adelaide. This has involved work across a range of policy areas and in both administration and management and with significant experience in matters of intergovernmental relations.

This includes executive management roles in the South Australian Departments of Treasury, Housing and Urban Development, Family and Youth Services and Technical and Further Education.

Ian has been a member of a number of Boards including, inter alia, the Aboriginal Health Organization, Playford Capital, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Tandanya Aboriginal Cultural Centre.

Management

SANTS is staffed by 30 staff who each bring a range of experience and expertise to the provision of high quality services to our clients.
